Pergolas & outdoor structures

Pergolas, gazebos, sail-shade frames and integrated outdoor structures — engineered for Coast wind, built for the way Gold Coast families actually entertain.

A pergola is the single biggest move you can make to extend the home outward. It defines the entertaining zone, anchors the lighting plan, gives shade in summer and warmth in winter, and adds real architectural weight to a backyard that otherwise feels like a paddock.

We build pergolas in two modes. The first is open-roof — exposed beam, slatted batten, or sail-shade — when the brief is dappled light and a sense of openness. The second is solid-roof — colorbond, polycarbonate, or insulated panel — when the brief is full weatherproofing and year-round use. The structural detailing, post fixings, and engineering certification differ meaningfully between the two, and we'll walk you through which one fits your block before we quote.

Coast wind is real. We engineer every pergola for the wind region your property sits in (most of the Gold Coast is C2; some elevated and waterfront blocks rate higher). That means cyclone-rated post bases, properly tied beams, and on larger spans a structural certificate from a registered engineer. We don't take the shortcut.

Scope

What's included.

Site assessment, levels and concept design before quote
Engineering certification on spans over 4m or wind-exposed sites
Council Form 15 / Form 16 documentation where required
Hardwood (spotted gum, blackbutt) or aluminium structural options
Open-roof, slatted, sail or solid-roof configurations
Integrated 12V lighting wiring and conduit during the build
Powder-coat or oil finish, Coast-rated for salt exposure
Coordination with builders, electricians and pool contractors

The Process

How it works.

  1. Step 01

    Site walk + concept

We walk the block, measure, photograph, and talk through how you actually use the space. You leave the first meeting with a clear sense of what fits and roughly what it costs.

  2. Step 02

    Concept render + engineering

AI render or architectural sketch so you see the pergola against your real house. Structural sizing finalised. Engineering certificate ordered if the span needs one.

  3. Step 03

    Council and approvals

Where the structure needs council Form 15 / Form 16, building approval, or pool-fence interface — we handle the paperwork. Most pergolas under 10m² fall outside building approval but we check first.

  4. Step 04

    Build

Footings, posts, beams, rafters, roof material, finish. Site kept clean, neighbours respected, levels held to within 5mm across the structure.

  5. Step 05

    Handover

Final walk-through with you on site. Documentation pack — engineering, finishes, maintenance schedule. Photos for your records.
